 I’ve had the opportunity and the honor to write about many albums that have been created in support of heartfelt humanitarian causes, and the latest release by Peter Jennison is certainly one of them. Entitled Coming Home, the album, in his words: “celebrates the wonderful homecomings between Soldiers and their Families that we see depicted on national television. I also pay tribute to those soldiers that return from battle wounded, and those that come home in flag-draped coffins. I created each piece to evoke a certain image for the listener.” And the music, which is a sequel to his debut recording Longing for Home (Songs from War) is quite evocative, to say the least, being written from Peter’s experience as a soldier deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Award-winning artist Peter Jennison is set to begin final recording of his new album in 2014 titled Coming Home. Due to be released this summer in 2014, Coming Home is  an album dedicated to service members and their families like his first piano instrumental album Longing For Home.

If this newest album is anything like his earlier album Longing For Home the interest in Peter Jennison’s new music in 2014 will be significant.

Coming Home is unique in its own way musically, but both albums are produced in theme to Peter Jennison’s recollections of his experiences as an active U.S. service member serving his country at a time of war.

Coming Home is the sequel to Peter Jennison’s 2010 debut, Longing For Home, and is the last installment in the series Songs From War. The nine tracks were composed and/or arranged by Jennison while he was deployed with the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2012 and were created to allow the listener to experience the serious impact of war through evocative music. It celebrates the homecomings of soldiers and their families and pays tribute to soldiers who come home wounded as well as those who make the ultimate sacrifice. In addition to giving listeners a poignant and vivid musical experience, much of the album was designed to provide soothing therapy to returning veterans and their families.

Peter Jennison’s impressive debut Longing for Home was released back in 2010 and was written during his second deployment as a Medevac pilot which paid tribute to the soldiers and families that sacrifice their relationships for the sake of our homeland’s security and well-being. Coming Home is essentially an additional installment of similar themes, but this time around focuses on the imagery of homecomings keeping in mind that they do not all have happy endings but nevertheless highly emotional ones.
